My bike is about 80% installed. I was at a Gatlinburg trip so I had not had a chance to set it up til this morning. I wonder if this forum's name can be changed?

Welp, guess what folks.. I have shin splints. I won't be able to run for the next three weeks. Good news is I got my new mountain bike in this weekend and will assemble it this Sunday. I guess you could call this site Cool Bikings until I can run again.

I wish I would have remembered to bring that watch on my Friday run (I missed Wednesday's practice due to having to work late). It would have probably been around 9 minutes. I did something I never have done the last 15 years and that's run a 1/2 mile without stopping. After that, I did something different. I would run as far as I could go, a little less than a 1/4 of a mile, rest, and do the same. I think this would build endurance in the long run. I did that for 2 miles and then I managed to walk home and crash.
I am running this evening and I'll tell you how I do.

My run this afternoon was 10 min and 56 secs for the 1st mile. After that 1st mile, I did mostly walking so I still have a long way to go til the 5K run
I failed to mention I went for a one mile practice run/walk just to give me a starting point to try to beat. It should be a pretty easy time.. one to look back on and laugh later. 13 min, 12.6 sec mile. Not bad huh? I may go for a run now since no one will be able to see me. Maybe I'll do better this time.

My, I did much better on my second practice. Thursday was the last day I did actual running before today because I was afraid of hurting my calves. I ran/walked about 2.5-3 miles... more than I have ever done since high school. At the very end of the stretch I went for a sprint and just about passed out at the line. It was a good run, and even better, I feel very little pain but tomorrow is the real test.
